Don’t watch that. Watch this

Christmas really is the best time to sit down around the TV and start bingeing on some of your favourite shows and movies. This got us thinking around the office about some of the shows we think you should check out.

Find that next Netflix series
The first suggestion comes from Indy our head of security, his top suggestion being The Crown, a TV series on Netflix based on the royal family. If you’re a fan of dramas, start right here!

Not so much a Royalist, but I love seeing historical events that I knew nothing about

Indy, Codeweavers Head of Security

The Boys
Recommended by Alex, one of our Front end Developers, this is an American superhero TV series on Amazon Prime. If you’re a fan of Arrow, The Flash or Jessica Jones, you’re sure to love this!

Its one of the best seasons I've ever seen

Mindhunter
This has been recommended by quite a few people in the office, including Michal, another Front end Developer. It's an American crime thriller based on the book of the same name.

Good psychological series on serial killers, not quite Hannibal but it will definitely scratch the itch.

Michal, Codeweavers Frontend Developer

His Dark Materials
A great choice from Web Application Developer Dave, this is a BBC series based on the fantasy novels by Philip Pullman. If you’ve read Northern Lights or any of the books from the trilogy, mosey on over to the Iplayer and start watching right now.

It’s been a while since I’ve read the books but the TV series has so far been an enjoyable watch and a good representation of the books. It is well written with convincing performances. It has an epic ‘Game of Thrones’ feel to it, plus a lot of it is set near the North Pole, so it puts you in a Christmas mood too.

Die Hard
I know this one is as controversial as Marmite, but for Matt in the Marketing Team Die Hard has to be on your Christmas watch list. First of all it’s set at Christmas. Secondly, it's a fantastic film. So, if you haven’t seen it already, pick up a copy today and watch it over the festive period. Don't just take Matt’s word for it though. No less than 18 other people in the office agreed!

Die Hard is as much a Christmas film as Home Alone.

Jude's top pick
A great choice from product owner Jude is a Christmas classic, ‘Jingle all the Way’, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger does whatever he can to get his son the Christmas toy of his dreams!

We pick a classic Christmas Film to watch with our son every Christmas eve. This year we're going with Jingle All the Way as it's one of my husbands all time faves, and our son is super hero crazy. He also loves a bit of slapstick. It's a pretty silly film, but it has a good message about how important time together with your family is, and ultimately it's not about the material gains, it's about the love and the fun Christmas brings!

Do you Want to Build a Snowman?
If you’ve got kids, you’ve probably already watched this a couple of hundred times already. But then what could be better around Christmas than a feel-good Disney film.

It's such a cute and fun movie, especially when watching it with kids - but the songs will get stuck in your head for the whole day.

Merry Christmas, ya Filthy Animal
We’ve all seen it at least a hundred times by now, year after year, but why break the habit of a lifetime? One of the greatest Christmas films of all time and one of the highest-rated films in the Codeweavers office.

I’ve watched Home Alone every year since I was little (the first one is my favourite). When it comes to a fight or flight situation, eight year old Kevin can sure put up a fight! It is just hilarious!

Flo, Codeweavers Quality Assurance

Honourable mentions
We had loads more film and series suggestions from folks around the office, so if none of the above is for you maybe one of these will be more up your street…..

Planes, Trains and Automobiles; Muppet Christmas Carol; Love Actually; The Grinch; Elf; The Santa Clause; Vikings; Brassic; The OA; Atypical and Good Girls.

What are your favourites?
We hope you enjoyed our list! Get in touch with your favourites on our social media accounts. Happy holidays all! 🎅
